The path forward confronts us on one side with deep water, on the other a steep mountainside.

Don’t worry. Obstacles are natural in all paths through life. However, in this situation it’s best to retreat rather than advance.

Obstructions to our progress are beneficial in that we must cultivate our higher nature and gather our strength to overcome them. The best path now leads away from the goal, but this reverse should enhance one’s determination to reach it.

An obstruction that does not last is useful because it strengthens one’s inner purpose and brings good fortune in the end. Inferior people seek others to blame for the reversals of fate. The spiritually advanced person first seeks the fault within themselves. In this way, obstructions foster self improvement.
